Here are some examples of how you can enjoy your time right around Clarissa Falls Resort...
Go river-rafting, tubing or swimming!
Go for a fun swim in the cool, refreshing waters of the Mopan River, or just sit back and enjoy the sounds
of the lightly cascading whitewater of Clarissa Falls.
Perhaps you'd rather go on inner tube or canoe ride (guided, if you wish) down the Mopan from the Xunantunich ferry-crossing
in San Jose Succotz and wind your way back to Clarissa Falls. This exciting river journey takes 2 to
3 hours by inner tube, and 1½ to 2 hours by canoe. Shorter, half-hour or 1 hour, trips are also available. Or you can
also take long way home and ride down further down river to destinations like Calla Creek or Bullet Tree Falls - about a 5 hour
scenic trip!
Enjoy some bird-watching!
Clarissa Falls Resort is truly a wildlife sanctuary and a wonderful place to do some bird-watching. Even if
you came knowing nothing about birds, you'll leave Clarissa Falls an amateur birder! We invite you to come & share in the
wonders of our colourful skies.
Belize is said to be the home to 540 species of birds. We are proud to say that the good majority of those species can be
found right around Clarissa Falls. Toucans & parrots are regularly seen, while less common birds like Oscellated Turkeys
& Ornate Hawk-Eagles make appearances. Ask Chena to point out the Mot Mot Bird!

Be a cowboy for a day!
Come down to the ranch, city slicker, and participate in the rounding up of cattle with real
cowboys. Round up the cattle, lasso them in preparation for nurturing or vaccines, and help the cowboys brand them. Please
contact us three weeks in advance to ensure this
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
If you're not ready to be a ranch-hand, you could go on a short, guided horse ride around La Clarissa Ranch. Or for a longer
ride, why not visit the Maya ruins of Buena Vista.
Explore some Maya ruins!
From La Clarissa Ranch you can see the majestic Maya ruins of Xunantunich atop hills to the west. The ruins
are a short distance from Clarissa Falls, a beautiful two-mile walk through the lush vegetation along the banks of the Mopan
River that you can do unguided. As you hike around the ranch and along the Mopan, you can see the numerous Maya mounds that
surround us and you may see sherds of pottery & other artifacts on the trails. The small ruins of Buena
Vista - thought to be the private estate of a Maya king - are close by & accessible by our guided horseback tour.
Many other Maya sites are in the area:
Actun Tunichil Muknal
near Roaring Creek, Cahal Pech in San Ignacio, Caracol in the Mountain Pine
Ridge, Chechem Ha south of Benque Viejo del Carmen, El Pilar north of Bullet
Tree Village and Tikal in Guatemala are some of the most popular ones to visit. Clarissa Falls would be pleased to assist
you in arranging tours to any of these sites.
Go on a jungle walk!
Feel yourself get in touch with nature as you wander around Clarissa. Go on a beautiful walk along our
picturesque trails and you can see many examples of local flora & fauna. Dozens of species of birds fly from tree to
majestic tree or sun themselves on logs in the river. Small lizards run from cover only to disappear again. Orchids &
other wildflowers dangle while ants jealously guard a tree of their own. Fruits hang from branches that can only be reached
by howler monkeys...
A guide is available to take you around the trails and introduce you to the beauty of Belize. Ask Chena if she can take you
through her medicinal trail or for an early morning jungle walk, then finish the walk with one of Chena's special herbal teas!
